Synaxis: Orthodox Calendar

Terms of Use

Last updated: August 1, 2026

Agreement

By downloading or using Synaxis ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

License

Evelaina grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple devices you own or control, for your own personal use, subject to these Terms and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

Purpose

Synaxis is a personal devotional companion. It computes the Orthodox fasting and feast calendar, shows the day's fasting guidance and commemorations, presents traditional prayers, and offers a Jesus-Prayer counter. It is an aid for your own prayer and observance.

⚠️ A devotional aid — your parish is the authority. Orthodox fasting rules, feast dates, and liturgical practice vary by jurisdiction (Old / New Calendar; Greek, Antiochian, Russian, OCA, and others) and by local parish and your spiritual father's direction. Synaxis presents a careful, mainstream reckoning, but it is not an authoritative liturgical ruling and is not a substitute for your priest, parish, or jurisdiction. For how to keep the fast and observe the feasts, follow your parish and spiritual father. Prayer texts are traditional, public-domain English provided as an aid to personal prayer.

Synaxis Pro

Synaxis Pro is an optional one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase (approximately $24.99 USD; prices may vary by region and current pricing is shown in the App). It permanently unlocks the Pro features on your Apple Account. It is not a subscription — there is no recurring charge and nothing to cancel.

The fasting calendar, feasts, daily prayers, and the Jesus-Prayer counter are free for everyone; Pro adds planning and personalization features.

Use of the App

You agree not to:

Your Content

You retain ownership of the preferences, saved name-days, reminder settings, and prayer counts or history you enter; that devotional data remains stored on your device. Beginning with version 1.5.0, Synaxis sends limited app-activation, product-interaction, and verified-purchase event data to Meta for advertising attribution and analytics, while Apple processes App Store purchases. Apple's App Tracking Transparency setting controls advertiser tracking. The Privacy Policy explains the data categories, purposes, controls, retention, and deletion options and forms part of these Terms.

Intellectual Property

The App's design, code, and implementation are owned by Evelaina. Prayer and scripture texts included in the App are in the public domain. You may not copy, modify, or distribute the App itself without written permission.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that any calendar date, fasting designation, or commemoration it produces will match your jurisdiction's or parish's observance.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Evelaina shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including reliance on any fasting designation, feast date, or commemoration, or loss of data due to device failure or App deletion.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. The revised version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Evelaina operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
