This Privacy Policy explains what Zawal does, and more importantly does not do, with your data. Zawal is built on a simple principle: your prayer is between you and your Lord. The app is designed to help you keep your prayers on time, not to learn anything about you.
Zawal collects nothing, and Zawal itself makes no network connections. The only time the App Store is contacted is when Apple checks or processes a Zawal Pro purchase, which Apple handles. It has no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporter, no account, no tracking, and no server that we operate. Your prayer times and Qibla are calculated entirely on your device, offline. This is why the App Store privacy label for Zawal reads "Data Not Collected."
Zawal is published by Evelaina ("we," "us," "our"). The app is distributed through the Apple App Store. You can reach us at support@evelaina.com.
Zawal needs to know where you are only to calculate accurate prayer times and the direction of the Qibla. This happens in two ways, both under your control:
In every case, your coordinates never leave your device. There is no network geocoder and no server for them to be sent to. Your location is used, then it stays on your phone.
Zawal Pro is optional and is offered as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. When you buy, renew or restore it, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Zawal uses Apple's built-in StoreKit only, which asks Apple whether your Apple Account owns Zawal Pro. We do not use RevenueCat or any other purchase service, and we do not operate a server that receives your purchase. We never see your name, email, Apple Account, or payment details.
To remove all doubt, Zawal does not collect:
Your chosen city or places, calculation method, alert settings, your prayer record, qada ledger, fasting log and prayer-close count are stored locally on your device in a small file, using Apple's own frameworks. We do not sync this to any server we operate, and Zawal does not use iCloud/CloudKit sync. If you use Export my record, Zawal creates a file on your device and hands it to the share sheet; where it goes next is your choice.
Prayer alerts are scheduled on your device by iOS. A widget reads a small summary of your next prayer and, with Zawal Pro, today's marks, from a file shared only between the app and its own widget on your iPhone.
If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, this file is included in that backup, exactly like any other app's local data. Backups are Apple-operated infrastructure scoped to your Apple Account; Apple's privacy policy applies, and we cannot access them.
Only one party is involved in delivering the app, and it receives only what Apple already handles for every app.
| Party | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | Your purchase and subscription transactions (handled by the App Store / StoreKit). Your device backup, if you have iCloud/computer backups enabled. Apple's privacy policy applies. | To process Zawal Pro subscriptions and purchases, support "Restore purchase," and (optionally) to back up your device. |
We do not use any analytics SDK, any advertising network, any crash reporter, or any other third-party service. There are no other parties.
The Arabic Quran text shown in Zawal's post-prayer close is reproduced verbatim from the Tanzil project under the Creative Commons Attribution licence, and the English meaning is the public-domain Pickthall translation. These are bundled with the app and read locally; using them involves no data about you.
Zawal is suitable for users of all ages. Because it collects no personal information at all, it does not knowingly collect information from children under 13, or anyone else. The app is not specifically directed at children under 13.
Because we hold no data that could identify you, there is nothing for us to look up, export, or delete on a per-user basis. To remove Zawal's data, simply uninstall the app from your device; if you want it gone from backups as well, remove it via iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
If you live in a jurisdiction with data-rights laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and believe we hold data about you that the above does not address, write to support@evelaina.com and we will respond within 30 days. In practice, we hold nothing about you.
We retain nothing about you. Apple retains transaction records under its own retention policy.
We may update this policy if our practices or Apple's rules change. Any update will appear at this URL with a new "Last updated" date at the top, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
For any privacy question or request: support@evelaina.com.
May Allah accept your prayers.
