Privacy Policy

Overview

Wilco ("the App") is a radio-phraseology trainer for student pilots, published by Evelaina. This policy explains how the App handles your information. In short: your practice runs on your device; the only thing that ever goes online is the debrief a Pro subscriber explicitly asks for.

Speech Stays on Your Device

When you practice out loud, the App listens through the microphone and transcribes your call using Apple's on-device speech recognition — the App is configured so recognition cannot leave your iPhone. Practice audio is never recorded, stored, or uploaded by Evelaina. Grading happens entirely on the device. If you prefer, every drill also works in type-to-respond mode with no microphone at all.

Data Stored on Your Device (and Your iCloud)

Your training progress — drill results, scenario records, review schedule, your tail number, and settings — is stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, it syncs through your own private iCloud account (Apple CloudKit); Evelaina cannot see, access, or retrieve it.

The One Online Feature: Pro AI Debriefs

If you subscribe to Wilco Pro and tap "Get my debrief" after a scenario flight, the App sends that flight's practice data to our server so an AI model can write your coaching:

• What is sent: the controller prompts, the expected answers, transcripts of what you said during that flight, and which elements were missed.
• What comes back: coaching text. The grades themselves are computed on your device — the server never decides pass or fail.
• How it's processed: our server (Cloudflare) verifies your subscription using Apple's signed transaction, applies a daily rate limit keyed to a hashed subscription identifier (not your name or Apple ID), and passes the flight summary to an AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the coaching text. We do not build profiles, and debrief content is not linked to your identity.
• When: only when you tap the button. Never in the background, never for free users, never during practice.

Apple Privacy Label

For reference, the App's App Store privacy label declares User Content (practice transcripts, for the debrief feature) and Identifiers (the hashed subscription identifier used for rate limiting), both not linked to you.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• No account, no login, no email.
• No location data.
• No analytics, advertising SDKs, or trackers of any kind.
• No audio recordings — speech is transcribed on-device and the audio is discarded by the system.
• We do not sell or share your data.

Subscriptions

Wilco offers an optional auto-renewable subscription, "Wilco Pro" (all six scenario flights + AI debriefs). The drills, spaced review, and the first two flights are always free. Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple's App Store; Evelaina never receives your payment information.

Training Aid Notice

Wilco presents radio phraseology transcribed from the FAA Aeronautical Information Manual and Pilot/Controller Glossary (public-domain U.S. government works), cited on screen. It is a training aid — not an official FAA publication, not a substitute for instruction from a certificated flight instructor, and not for operational use in flight.

Children's Privacy

Wilco is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data Deletion

Deleting the App removes locally stored data; progress in your iCloud can be managed from your device's iCloud settings. Debrief requests are processed transiently and are not retained as a profile.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date.
