By downloading or using Larder ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App. You must be at least 13 years old to use the App.
Larder is a home-canning process companion: tested processing times, pressures, and headspace for water-bath and pressure canning (adjusted to the elevation you enter), a guided canning-session timer, a yield and jar planner, a fermentation brine calculator, and a batch journal with a pantry for tracking what you've put up. It is a planning and reference aid for home food preservation.
Larder presents processing times, pressures, and headspace values transcribed from the USDA Complete Guide to Home Canning and National Center for Home Food Preservation (NCHFP) publications, and cites the source on each result. The App deliberately never computes, interpolates, or invents a process; where no tested process exists for a food or jar size, the App says so. This information is reference material only. Home canning carries inherent food-safety risks, including botulism, when done incorrectly. You are responsible for following a current tested recipe in full — including preparation, acidification, jar and lid condition, and your canner's manufacturer instructions — for entering your elevation correctly, and for discarding any jar that fails to seal or shows signs of spoilage. When in doubt, consult the USDA/NCHFP guidance directly or your local extension office.
The guided session schedules local notifications and shows a Live Activity for stage changes. Notification delivery depends on your device settings and system conditions. Do not rely on the App as your only monitor of an active canner — stay with your equipment and follow its manufacturer's instructions.
You retain full ownership of everything you create in the App, including batches, pantry records, lid lots, and notes. This content is stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud account. Evelaina does not access or store your content.
You may use Larder for personal and small-scale commercial preserving (note that selling home-canned goods is regulated — cottage-food and acidified-food rules vary by jurisdiction and are your responsibility). You agree not to:
The calculators and the guided session are free. Larder offers an optional auto-renewable subscription, "Larder Pro", that unlocks unlimited saved batches and the pantry & batch-journal export. Pro is offered as Monthly ($2.99) or Yearly ($19.99) — prices in USD; prices may vary by region and current pricing is displayed in the App.
The App's design, code, and implementation are owned by Evelaina. The underlying USDA/NCHFP processing guidance is public-domain U.S. government work, which the App cites. Your batches and notes are yours. You may not copy, modify, or distribute the App itself without written permission.
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted, that notifications will always be delivered, or that reference values will match every edition of every source. Reference values are provided for planning purposes.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Evelaina shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to spoiled or unsafe food, failed batches, illness or injury arising from the preparation, preservation, storage, or consumption of food, the cost of produce, jars, lids, or equipment, or loss of data due to device failure or App deletion.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. The revised version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
