Kintsu ("the App") is published by Evelaina. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your rights. Given the personal and emotional nature of this App, we take your privacy seriously.
The following data is stored exclusively on your device (and in your private iCloud, if you use it) and is never received, seen, or stored by Evelaina:
When you choose to analyze a message, the following data is sent over an encrypted connection to our analysis service (a Cloudflare Worker) and our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the reading:
We do not store the message text or that context. Our AI provider processes it transiently to produce the result and, per its own policy, may retain inputs briefly for abuse monitoring; it is not used to train models on your data in a way that identifies you. This data is not linked to your identity and is not used for tracking or advertising. No names, contact information, or device identifiers are included in the request.
If you analyze a screenshot, the image is read on your device using Apple's on-device text recognition, and only the extracted text is sent for analysis. The image itself never leaves your phone.
To unlock and protect Pro features, the App sends your App Store subscription identifier (from Apple's StoreKit) to our service to verify your subscription and rate-limit the analyzer. We keep only a short-lived, hashed value for this purpose. We do not collect your purchase history. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple; we do not have access to your payment information.
For reference, the App's App Store privacy label declares: User Content (the message text you submit) and Identifiers (a subscription identifier), both used only for App Functionality, not linked to your identity, and not used for tracking.
Kintsu is a self-help companion, not therapy or medical advice. If a message you analyze suggests crisis or self-harm, the App surfaces support resources (in the US, you can call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). Always contact your local emergency services in an emergency.
Kintsu is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your journey, check-ins, assessment results, and analysis history are stored locally on your device. Deleting the App from your device removes all locally stored data.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date.
